Most of it is dumb dances and friend drama, but there were comments from random older boys and one person telling her she was ugly.

She replied like it did not bother her. Then I heard her crying in the shower.

I want to delete everything and take the phone.

My husband says that will make her sneakier and we should teach her how to handle it.

I understand that, but also, she is thirteen. Her frontal lobe is basically wet cement.

At 6:12 this morning, my aunt asked who was bringing potato salad to a cookout three weeks from now. By 6:30, there were thirty seven messages, two recipes, one argument about mustard, and a photo of somebody’s rash that had nothing to do with lunch.

If I mute the chat, I miss actual plans. If I leave it on, my phone vibrates like it has been drafted into emergency service.

I suggested we keep messages between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. My mother said families should not have business hours.

I disagree. This family needs a receptionist.

Is muting them rude?
