I was fine with it at first because he was saving money. Except he is not really saving. He is buying shoes, takeout and concert tickets while using my laundry soap like it is free rainwater.

He eats everything. Not some things. Everything. I bought sandwich meat Monday and by Tuesday there was one sad corner left in the package.

He also thinks putting one cup in the dishwasher counts as helping.

I love him. I also did not expect to still be financially supporting a grown man with better sneakers than me.

Would raising his rent be fair, or am I being greedy?

Everybody was supposed to pay me back. Half did. Half forgot, vanished, or developed amnesia whenever money came up.

The owner canceled and refunded the full amount to me.

Now the relatives who never paid are asking when I am sending “their share.” Their share of what? The air?

I already returned the money to the people who actually paid. I kept the rest because it was mine to begin with.

My aunt says I am being technical and making family about money. Funny how people say that when it is your money.

Was I wrong, because I do not feel wrong.

I already have three payment apps, two banking apps, and a school lunch account that requires a password containing a symbol, a number, and apparently the blood of a notary.

I offered cash. She said cash was hard to track.

We were standing six feet apart in a gym. I had twelve dollars in my hand.

I am not downloading another app so I can reimburse someone for orange slices.

Am I becoming difficult, or has paying people become unnecessarily complicated?
