Apparently this was teacher appreciation week. I found out Thursday night from a class mom text that said, “Reminder, tomorrow is spa basket day!”
Spa basket day. Like that is a normal phrase I should already understand.
By then I had worked ten hours, one kid had practice, and the grocery store was closed. So Friday morning I bought a fifteen dollar gift card at the gas station and put it in an envelope from an old utility bill.
My daughter said everybody else had cute bags.
Her teacher deserves nice things. Truly. She also deserves a parent who knew there were five separate daily themes, but unfortunately she got me.
Is a gift card still a decent thank you, or did I look like I remembered her while buying windshield fluid?
The child saying everyone else had cute bags is the only wound here. Teachers truly do not rank the packaging.
Utility envelope is sending me. That’s real working parent couture.
A fifteen dollar card is generous. She can buy coffee or snacks. Better than another mug.
The daily themes are supposed to make it easier by giving ideas, but I agree they can become another assignment.
I sent cash in a card that said THANK YOU in my own handwriting. Everybody lived.
Spa basket day is why moms snap. Appreciation should not require a themed production schedule.
Gas station gift card teacher here. We love gift cards. We do not care about the bag. Promise.
