The information we collect depends on how you use the site.

After your comment is approved, your Gravatar profile image may be visible publicly beside your comment.

When you vote in a Mom WTF poll, the site may collect information needed to record the vote and prevent repeat voting, manipulation, spam, or abuse.

Poll results may be displayed publicly in combined form.
Mom WTF does not publicly identify individual voters unless the voter separately leaves a public comment or chooses to share their response.
Poll results are informal community opinions. They are not scientific surveys, professional research, legal findings, or proof that the internet has finally become reasonable.
When you submit a story, poll question, tip, screenshot, or other material, we collect the information included in the submission form.

Your contact information will not normally be published with your submission unless you give permission or intentionally include it for publication.

Submitting something does not guarantee that it will be published.
Do not submit someone else’s private information, confidential records, private messages, or identifying information about children.

When you leave a comment, you may choose to save your name, email address, and website in cookies. This prevents you from having to enter the same information each time you comment.

When you visit a login page, the site may set a temporary cookie to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no direct personal information and is removed when you close your browser.

Login cookies normally remain for two days. Display preference cookies may remain for one year. Selecting “Remember Me” may keep you signed in for approximately two weeks.

We may request additional information to verify your identity. We may also deny or limit requests when permitted by law, including when information must be retained for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, moderation records, or the protection of other people’s rights.
California residents will not be discriminated against for exercising applicable privacy rights.
Authorized agents may submit requests on behalf of California residents. We may require proof that the agent has permission to act for the person making the request.
California residents may also use a supported Global Privacy Control signal to communicate an opt out request when applicable. California authorities recognize Global Privacy Control as a method for sending certain opt out requests.
Comments and associated metadata may be retained indefinitely so we can recognize follow up comments, preserve conversations, maintain moderation records, and avoid repeatedly placing legitimate commenters into moderation.
Poll records may be retained as long as necessary to maintain results, prevent duplicate voting, detect manipulation, or preserve site records.
Stories and other submissions may be retained while they are being reviewed and after publication.
Contact messages may be kept as long as reasonably necessary to respond, investigate an issue, maintain records, or meet legal and security obligations.
Newsletter information is normally retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion, subject to records needed to honor the unsubscribe request.
For registered users, we store the personal information included in their profile. Users may be able to view, edit, or delete their profile information, except for information WordPress does not allow them to change, such as usernames.
Site administrators may also access and edit account information when needed to operate the site.
Depending on where you live and which privacy laws apply, you may have the right to:

Submitting a deletion request does not always require us to remove information we are legally permitted or required to retain.
Mom WTF is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13.
Children under 13 should not create accounts, leave comments, join the newsletter, submit stories, or provide personal information through the site.
If we learn that personal information was collected directly from a child under 13 without appropriate permission, we will take reasonable steps to remove it.
COPPA regulates certain websites and online services that collect personal information from children under 13, so this section should remain clear and consistent with how registration, comments, and submissions are configured.

No website, database, transmission method, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Please do not send sensitive personal information that Mom WTF does not need.

Comments may be checked through automated spam detection services. Other information may be processed by hosting, security, email, analytics, advertising, and form providers.
Privacy protections and legal requirements may differ by location.
If Mom WTF offers products, memberships, downloads, or other purchases, we may collect information needed to process and manage the transaction. This may include your name, email address, billing address, shipping address, phone number, account information, order details, and payment related information.
Payment information may be processed by outside payment providers. Mom WTF does not necessarily receive or store your complete payment card information.
