My cousin has this gift where she can turn any normal event into a hostage situation.
Birthday dinner? She cries because nobody asked enough questions about her job. Baby shower? She gets drunk and starts telling people who cheated on who in 2017.
Last Christmas she called my sister fake in front of the kids, then locked herself in the bathroom for forty minutes.
Now I am planning a backyard dinner and honestly, I do not want her there.
My mom says leaving her out will cause drama. Inviting her also causes drama. So apparently the only option is drama with folding chairs.
Do I invite her because family, or let her find out on Facebook like everybody else?
Family is not a lifetime backstage pass to everybody’s home.
I stopped hosting and suddenly all the experts had nowhere to go.
My family called me selfish until they had to price a turkey and clean a bathroom.
They only care about tradition when somebody else is cooking it.
You can refuse. The turkey will not call the police.
I would invite her once more with clear expectations, then be done if she pulls the same mess.
You are not required to keep setting the table for disrespect.
My aunt used to say, some people bring a dish and some people bring a problem.
