Every night my dog gets a short walk, a dental treat, fresh water, a blanket arranged exactly the way he likes it, and several minutes of reassurance that he is a very good boy.
I get dishes, unanswered texts, and somebody asking where their charger is while I am brushing my teeth.
Last night I realized I was tucking the dog in while standing in a laundry basket because there was no clear floor space in my bedroom.
He sighed contentedly. I respected it, but I also resented it.
Does anyone else provide better care to the pet than to themselves?
