My Ex Still Knows Exactly What to Say

THE STORY

My ex sent me a voice note after nine years of silence.

He said he had driven past our old apartment and remembered the fire escape, the cheap wine, and the way I used to bite his shoulder when I was trying not to make noise.

I listened to it six times.

I am married. He is married. I did not answer until the next morning, and even then I only wrote, “You should not have sent that.”

He replied, “You did not say you were sorry I did.”

I deleted the thread. I did not delete the voice note.

Absolutely feral behavior. I say that with concern and a tiny bit of admiration.

Sis, if the story needs this many secrets, it is not built for daylight.

Honestly the secrecy would eat me alive. I cannot even hide Amazon boxes.

I need less romance and more timeline. When exactly did all this happen?

If his wife invited you over, I would assume either enlightenment or homicide.
